Power to the Fire Museum
October 5th was a momentous day for the Fire Museum, marking a major turning point for the project. This was the day that Cleveland Public Power (CPP) started work installing a new transformer.
The new transformer is a major upgrade to the entire facility, including the CFD station next door. The upgraded service was necessary for the elevator to be installed and until it was up and running Otis Elevator could not begin their work.
So with the CPP transformer installed, Ullman Electric returned to finish the connections inside. The new power was turned on the next day.
With the power upgrade and the new pad mounted transformer, the landscape at the west end of the building was significantly improved. The once looming transmission poles and the cluster of transformers mounted at their tops were removed leaving an open sky and an even more open walkway below.
To a person, everyone from CPP should be commended for the hard work and care for details. Thanks guys!
